World Antibiotic Awareness Week is Celebrated between the 18th -24th of November each year and it was born out of the need to increase the awareness of global antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and to encourage best practices among the general public, health workers, farmers, animal health professionals and policy makers to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.
In May 2015, a global action plan to tackle AMR was endorsed at the World Health Assembly, supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
“The first objective of the plan is to improve awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective communication, education and training”

What are the objectives of WAAW?
- To make AMR a globally recognized issue with engagement of all sectors – human, animal, plant and environment, a ‘One Health approach’.
- To raise awareness of the need to protect antimicrobial efficacy through prudent and responsible use.
- To increase recognition of the roles that individuals, governments, civil society organizations and human, animal, environment and plant health as.
- well as agriculture professionals must all play in tackling antimicrobial resistance.

All around the world bacteria
However, the overuse and misuse of antimicrobials have accelerated the development of antimicrobial resistance, as has a lack of clean water and sanitation and inadequate infection prevention and control. This makes infections harder to treat, which increases the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death.

A Comprehensive Guide To Post-Cycle Therapy for HSMD
A Comprehensive Guide To Post Cycle Therapy HSMD
What Is Post Cycle Therapy?
Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) is a period of time after completing a course of hormone therapy, such as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT), during which the body is given time to reset
and restore its natural hormonal balance. This phase is crucial for individuals who have undergone treatment to ensure their hormones return to a healthy
state and minimize the risk of side effects.
Is Post Cycle Therapy Necessary?
Yes, PCT is often necessary for individuals who have undergone treatments
like HRT or TRT. It helps restore the body’s natural hormone production, reduces the risk of complications, and promotes
overall health and well-being. Without proper post-cycle therapy, individuals may
experience prolonged side effects or an imbalance in their hormonal system.
The Importance of Sleep and Rest during PCT
During PCT, adequate sleep and rest are essential for the body to heal and
restore itself. Poor sleep quality can slow down recovery
and negatively impact the balance of hormones. Aim for 7-8 hours of
quality sleep each night to support your PCT process.
When should I start post cycle therapy?
You should begin PCT once you have completed your treatment course and feel it is appropriate for your health needs.
The timing can vary based on individual factors such as
genetics, overall health, and recovery needs.
Consult with a healthcare professional to determine the best time to start PCT.
How long does PCT last for?
The duration of PCT typically ranges from 6 to 12 weeks, depending on your body’s response and recovery needs.
Some individuals may need a longer period to achieve optimal results, while others may recover more quickly.
